Holiday of the Day: Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has officially proclaimed today, July 22, “Bon Iver Day” in honor of lead singer Justin Vernon’s Badger State roots.
“WHEREAS, Bon Iver’s music embraces Justin Vernon’s Wisconsin heritage,” states the proclamation, “as he has become an international ambassador for both Milwaukee and Wisconsin, while they travel across the world playing music and interact with national media.”
How does one go about celebrating Bon Iver Day? Mope around, brood for a while, then miss someone a whole lot.
For the past few weeks WMSC has been compiling the amount of plays our rotational albums have been getting. While it’s not really the “most played”, with many albums having the same amount of plays as each other, we use a special formula and a series of tie-breakers to see which has more weight or whatever buzzword you want to use.

Video: Destroyer Play Fallon - “Downtown”
In which Dan Bejar and friends perform the smooth, saxophone/trumpet-laced Kaputt jam “Downtown” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, proving once and for all that the magic of this late ’70s/ early ’80s-inspired gem isn’t limited to the studio. Some late-night appearances feel a bit distracted by the format and occasionally less inspired, but Destroyer’s television debut is not one of them. Watch the surreal — for longtime Bejar fans like myself — clip above (thanks to the Audio Perv).
UGH I am so in to Destroyer lately

Also Obligatory of the Day: Thom Yorke’s herky-jerky dance moves in the “Lotus Flower” video lend themselves quite readily to a bit of the ol’ song switcheroo. For instance: Slip in some “Single Ladies,” and watch it make sense.

Radiohead released their new album The King of Limbs a day early. Also, a new video for the song “Flying Lotus”.
So here’s Cut Copy’s bizzare video for their excellent new track “Need You Now”. SPORTS.
